Cheryl Shaw is Senior Claims Specialist with the Design Professional division of AXA XL in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also a licensed Georgia attorney with 20 years of litigation experience. In her current position, Cheryl manages and develops defense strategies for insurance claims against architects and engineers, including negligence, breach of contract, construction administration, and delay claims. She also retains and supervises local counsel and experts, and attends mediations and settlement conferences throughout the United States.

Before joining AXA XL, Cheryl was a partner at a mid-sized Atlanta firm where her practice concentrated on representation of design professionals in all types of construction disputes. A significant part of her practice was also devoted to client consultation regarding professional service agreements and risk management strategies. While in private practice, Cheryl was recognized as a “Rising Star,” a designation honoring top lawyers in Georgia under the age of 40.

Cheryl received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maine (B.A., cum laude), and her law degree from Suffolk University Law School (J.D., cum laude) where she was a member of the Moot Court Board.
